Stay tuned for more next week!

Looking forward to this! Caleb, have you tried it out?

I have a guitar that needs a pickup and it's either going to get the HiFi or a similar pickup by another pickup manufacturer.

I've tried it quite a bit around the shop, but haven't had a chance to use it live yet. I just put HiFi in my own guitar this week, so I should have even more opportunities to use it now.

      It's pretty dang impressive.

What guitar did you put the HiFi in, Caleb?

I love that the installation jig is included and that it is a simple and straightforward procedure.

Have you all found that the system works in a wide variety of body sizes/styles and remains balanced and feedback resistant?

I just put HiFi in my Gibson J15. I haven't had a chance to try it yet since I'm now at the NAMM show.

We've tested this in a wide range of guitars with different body sizes and styles, and the pickup has worked well and had minimal feedback issues in the vast majority of them.

I have a Lyric in my 000; had been considering having one installed in my D28. However, this is also intriguing.

Any guidelines for selecting one over the other? I get that the Lyric is a mic, whereas the HiFi is a pickup (not that I really want to compare it to a competitor, but is more like a K&K transducer pickup?). Both use a 9v, both avoid having an undersaddle wire (ala Anthem)…

            Comments? Suggestions?

            Thx!

Generally speaking, and with limited experience at this point, I would say that the HiFi is a bit more tonally balanced than the Lyric. The Lyric has a really tight bass response to minimize feedback. HiFi handles feedback much better so it has a more open and natural bass response.

The Lyric tends to sound a little boxy in some guitars. HiFi has been significantly more balanced, overall.

To the Lyric's credit, I think that the top end response of a mic still sounds the most natural. However, the HiFi pickups are VERY close.

Both guitars are Martins, are EIR back and sides, w/ red spruce tops. The Lyric has been fine in the 000, but as the dread has more space, it might be more prone to boomy, so the HiFi may be a better choice for it. I'll continue to pay attention to all the forthcoming info, etc.

                Appreciated your thoughts!

Well, might end up having to pass on the HiFi and proceed with a Lyric….

My D28 has the small maple bridgeplate (Authentic style); I’d started thinking it was time to order the HiFi and have it installed but before I did, I decided to use a mirror and take a peek: I don’t think I have 3/4” in front of the string ball-ends, I think it’s closer to 1/2”…. It is a narrow plate! Since the HiFi is particular about placement, but the Lyric isn’t so much, I might need to stick w/ it again.
