  • Anthem Tru-mic with M80 instead of Element?

Is there any way to use an M80 passively in place of the Element for the low side of the crossover blend? I don't have the Anthem yet, on its way this week (the version with blend control)... I already have an M80 I could use if this is possible.

This is related to my previous post; having some difficulty navigating the 45 degree pickup feed hole in my Guild D55 for the Element part of the Anthem equation.

I realize that if it's possible electronically, there's a soundhole real estate conflict between the M80 and the blender for the Anthem. I'd imagine there may be a workaround.

Or, is the existing Ribbon Transducer in the Guild a possibility instead of the element? That might be problematic... the Ribbon was always prone to low end feedback.

    Hey Randall,
The Anthem system is actually a very intentionally designed system. Since it was designed around the Element, other sources really don't work as well as replacements. The M80 may "work" with the Anthem, but I really doubt that it will sound any good.

The 45 degree angle for the Element is not a requirement for the installation. I've retrofitted Elements into many guitars that have a 90 degree hole, without any issues at all.

I would recommend installing the entire Anthem system first. See what you think. Then if you have any issues with it, you can experiment.

Thanks Caleb! First choice is of course the Anthem/Element, as designed; my only hesitation with was risking damaging the element. I think I'll probably be able to get about a 70-75 degree angle without going near the bracing with a drill bit, so thanks for the info!
