I've played around with this combination using two separate outputs jacks (I like that I can throw M1A into a guitar in minutes, and see what it sounds like), and really like the results. Thinking I want to make this permanent. Is there any reason that I can't wire the K&K to the M1A jack? I'd rather not drill a second hole in the end block...

The M1A comes with a 3-conductor jack (TRS). If you wanted to add the K&K pickups, you would need a 4-conductor jack (TRSS) so that the two pickups could output in stereo.
The LR Baggs Strapjack Plus or the Fishman Switchjack are both 4-conductor jacks. If you change out the jack you should be able to use the M1A and the K&K together into a stereo preamp or mixer. -
I just received the StrapJack Plus, and want to make sure I'm wiring it correctly (it didn't come with wiring instructions for my situation). I did find detailed diagrams for wiring a passive + active pickup in the Fishman Switchjack, and I'm assuming the StrapJack Plus is the same. Here's what I'm thinking...
Red from M1A - tip
White from M1A - sleeve
Wires from K&K - ring
Grounds from both pickups soldered to ground tab

Well, it kind of works, but not really. Here's what's happening:
The cable I'm using has a 1/4" TRS end on one side, and splits to 2 1/4" TS ends on the other. I have verified that the cable itself works fine. However, when I plug it into the Strapjack Plus, I get nothing out the other end. If I pull the end out of the jack about a half inch, I get signal from the tip (M1A pickup). Slide it out a little more, and I get signal from the ring (K&k). When i use a regular guitar cable, it works as expected (getting signal only from the M1A). Any thoughts?
Also, when I pulled apart the K&K jack, it has four conductors (and the Switchcraft logo stamped onto it...it looks the same to me as the Fishman Switchjack). Possibly could have just used the K&K jack rather than buying another one?Comment

If the K&K jack has 4 conductors, you very well could have used it in place of the Fishman (or still can). I didn't know that the K&K came with that style jack.
As far as the stereo-Y cable that you're using, when you plug it in all the way, do you get any signal out of the ring (#2) end of the cable? Either with the cable all the way in the guitar jack or pulled slightly out. If you aren't getting a signal from either cable end when the cable is plugged all the way in, there may be something wrong. IT sounds to me like you have your wiring down though, since you're getting signal from both pickups when the cable is pulled out slightly.Comment

Ya, it would have been good to know that the K&K had a 4 conductor jack before ordering the Baggs one...oh well.
I solved the issue I was having, however. The Strapjack Plus diagram shows the shortest conductor connected to the tip, the middle to the ring, and the longest to the sleeve. I pulled the jack out of my guitar, plugged in the TRS cable, and tested continuity from each conductor to the other ends of the cable. Turns out, the middle conductor (on the jack they sent me, anyway) connects to the sleeve, and the longest one to the ring, so there was my problem.
I ended up pulling it apart and using the jack from the K&K, as the conductors are quite a bit longer than on the Baggs jack, making the soldering easier (I checked continuity on the K&K jack as well, just to make sure I was wiring it properly). It works great, although there is some crosstalk from the M1A into the Pure Mini signal. It's very slight, and if I ever want just the Pure Mini, turning down the volume on the M1A pickup to 0 means there's no cross talk. The only issue remaining is that the little bit of signal bleeding over from the M1A will get the same EQ as the Pure Mini, which isn't perfect, but I can live with it. Thanks for your help!Comment
