  • two guitars, swapping anthem and anthem SL

got two guitars. guitar A has full anthem and guitar B has anthem SL. both were professionally installed once upon a time.

i feel like guitar B would benefit more with a more versatile full anthem, and guitar A can do well with just the anthem SL.

is it an easy swap that i can just do on my own? anything to be careful of ? i assume i wont need to drill anything whatsoever since both had a version of anthem installed already. i assume i dont really need to worry about saddle height since they both have element pickup already...... i have all brand new two sided tape/clips (LRBAGGS generously send me two new mounting kits).

    thanks for any advice.....

You definitely won't have to drill any additional holes. If you've never done it before, the only part that might be difficult is removing the adhered parts of the system, like the mic and the preamp. Once you get those parts off, the rest is easy.

Just be sure to use steady and firm pressure. Then the adhesive should pop right off.

Is the mic different between the two, The preamp defo is, but I would have though the mic is the same?,,

By the way I should tell you that we went to NY a couple of weeks ago (mini holiday) & I bought an Anthem & I'm blown away with the sound I now have!, A couple of muso mates in the audience said how nice it sounded!
I Started out with nothing & I still have most of it left. (Seasick Steve)

        Hey jiff 41,
The mic and the pickup are exactly the same between the two systems. The only difference is the preamp.

The Anthem SL preamp is not only contained in the endpin, with fewer controls, but it also has an entirely preset mix between the mic and pickup. The mix ratio is comparable to the regular Anthem at the full mic setting on the mix wheel.

Ah, So the plug in arrangement is different?, I didn't think of that (DUH!) as always Caleb you are the top man!,, I'm still experimenting with the mix control, I can't make my mind up where I like it best every time I adjust it I think "oh that's nice!" & then adjust it again & think "oh,,," etc I suppose that's a good point in favour of the SL version It makes the decision for you!

caleb are you saying anthem at FULL "left" position on the mix dial, is identical to Anthem SL's preset mix???? '

if thats the case i dont think i need to do any swap operation. I really thought i can get more mic sound over the element sound from of the Anthem (less quacky sound) than on the SL's preset

The "full left" position on the Anthem isn't perfectly identical to the SL's preset, but it is extremely close.

In the regular Anthem, the Element's signal above 250Hz is merely blended down in the mix. It's almost off, but not 100%. On the SL, the Element is completely cut off at 250Hz and the mic carries the rest of the sound by itself.

So they sound nearly identical, but technically, the Anthem SL has less pickup.
