  • Lr Baggs Anthem SL Issue

Hi, I just did a professional installation of an Anthem SL into my Gibson J45 (I'm a guitar repair tech). I'm having issues with an extremely loud high E and B strings. The guitar itself is extremely balanced but is almost unplayable plugged in due to the output difference of that string. I can't determine if it's the under saddle pickup or mic (or both) that's causing the issue. Any thoughts as to how to reduce/balance that string with the others? Thanks

    Hey dbrush13,
The undersaddle pickup is responsible for all sound under 250Hz. So any imbalance in the lower strings will definitely be coming from the pickup.

Have you done any checking on your saddle yet? You just want to be sure that you have a good fit (not too tight or too loose), and that the bottom of the saddle is as flat as it can possibly be.

Caleb, thanks for the reply. After looking at the saddle everything appeared to be correct. I ended up installing a new bone saddle and that fixed the issue. The output is balanced on all strings now. Cheers.
