  • M80 too wide for guitar string spacing

Hi, I have just purchased an Lr Baggs M80 soundhole pickup to go into my 1970 Yamaha FG 180 and have found that the strings of this guitar are narrower that the pole pieces in the pickup. Will this have an adverese effect on the tone coming from the pickup when played?

    Thank you,

    Nick

    Hey Nick,
It shouldn't have any noticeable effect on the tone of the pickup. If you notice any imbalance from string to string, you can adjust the pole pieces to raise or lower the volume of any of the individual strings.

Angling the pickup slightly can also help with the pole piece spacing.
