  • fitting M1 on 3 22/32 hole

    Hi,

I hav an M1 active and trying to put it on one of my guitars with a 3 22/32 sound hole. I thought these were supposed to fit as small as 3 1/2 inch sound hole, but I can't get it to fit. Is there anything I need to do differently besides simply separating the ends as I do on my other guitar (which it fits with ease)?

    Hi Larry,
If you take one of the wings off the pickup you should be able to fit it in that sized sound hole.

This worked for me. I'd add that you'll find the job easier if you take off the wing on the other side from the mini jack

That's correct. The M1, M1A and M80 will fit into any soundhole with a diameter of 3 9/16" or larger. Soundholes between 3 9/16" and 3 3/4" will require one of the clamps be removed from the pickup so it can be set in place. Once in position, the clamp can be put back into its slide track and tightened as normal.

A rubber band is a handy way of holding the clamp on the pickup, like having an extra hand to keep it from falling into the guitar while you maneuver it back into its track.
