  • Anthem keeps falling off!?

    Hi,
I have had a full anthem put into a J200 western classic and the soundhole mounted part keeps falling off. It has been back to the tech who fitted it twice and keeps happening. I am not a luthier/tech but to my eyes there may be some bracing in this model preventing this large piece of kit from sitting properly. Can anyone help with what I should do? Should I whip it out and put a lyric in it's place? Also, where do you get more sticky pads from? So many questions. Hope you guys can help. Thanks

    Dan

    Hey Dan,
I don't know if a brace is causing the problem. If you email your address to [email protected], I'll get you some more adhesives. Then when the systems is remounted, be sure that the surface of the guitar is cleaned with Naphtha or alcohol. That should keep it from falling off again. This usually only happens in older guitars that are really dirty inside. Sometimes it occurs in overly humid environments too.

If a brace is preventing solid contact from the preamp, I'll send you an extra set so you can double the adhesive and add an 1/8" of extra clearance.

I had an issue with the mic falling off on two of my Anthem SL equipped guitars - I used blu tack to fix them after I ran out of the kindly supplied spare adhesive bits - that was a long time ago now and they're still hanging in there!

Maybe you could workshop test this method and after you are satisfied it works and meets / exceeds your expectations you could supply "LR Baggs Fixer" ( blu tack in an LR Baggs pack ) at a price ten times that of blu tack........

Just kidding I'm new here this is my first post don't want it to be my last! But I am sure you know of or have heard of this type of thing occurring......

Anyhow just my two bobs worth - I have three guitars fitted with Anthem SL's and one recently fitted with a Lyric and I am outstandingly impressed with the LR Baggs product does exactly what it says on the box!

They can't make a crap guitar sound good but they can absolutely make a good guitar sound exactly like it does acoustically via amplification.

I've been giving some thought to how to apply a Lyric or Anthem to a National Steel guitar - have you guys? Well I digress better be off.......
