Heavy Mids?

Hello.
I am considering upgrading to the "Lyric" mic in both of my Martins (D-28 / '78 D-35)...I have been checking it out and really liking what I'm hearing. I currently have passive BPTs (from another company, sorry) in both guitars. After installing (a couple of years ago), I did notice that the BPTs were a tad bit heavy on the mids, which I was able to correct, for the most part, with a pre-amp and decent EQ. My question is: Does the Lyric tend to be a little heavy in the mids also? I have noticed in videos, that several of the artists are using the Venue Pre-amp. Any info would be greatly appreciated! The Lyric's mid range is actually very accurate to the guitar's acoustic sound. We've done tests on all kinds of body sizes and styles, and the mids and bass are very accurate across guitar models. The treble frequencies do take a little tweaking to match the guitar, but we've provided a treble adjustment that is designed to match the treble frequencies of your guitar. This adjustment is set upon the installation, and not usually changed after that.

The Venue provides a little extra EQ and notching control. The Lyric is very natural sounding, and highly resistant to feedback for an internal mic. Having the Venue just lets you get as loud as possible with the tone set just the way you want it. The Lyric and Venue are an amazing match for any live or studio situation.

Thanks for that info! I am very happy with the natural tone of my guitars, and just want to get as close as possible to that in an amplified setting. Hopefully, I will be upgrading to the Lyric in the very near future! Thanks again!

The battery life of the Lyric is usually 200 to 220 hours, plugged in.

I have a plastic "Strap Jack" plug I've used to secure my guitar strap on the Baggs brass "endpins." I just switched from a passive IBeam to a Lyric. Will leaving the plastic dummy plug in the strapjack drain the battery?

If the plastic insert is non-conductive, you shouldn't have a problem.
