Hi, Caleb,
Thank you for your response. I think I will get the Venue DI, because that way I can avoid batteries altogether. I am having the M1 Passive installed in my D212 right now. (It's at the shop)... so if I get the Venue DI, I can plug the pedal into my pedalboard and not have any extra need for power.
Thanks for confirming that they are a good match.

Want to setup my Guild 12 like Tom Petty

Tom Petty actually uses the M1 Passive and the iBeam with the iMix preamp. This allows him to send a stereo out to his mixing board, sending the M1 to the monitors and the iBeam/M1 tot he house.
As far as the Venue DI, it will work great with the M1 Passive. I have the Venue DI and have used the M1 Passive with it on several occasions. I always run straight into the mixer too. I think you generally get the best sound that way.

Want to setup my Guild 12 like Tom Petty
Hi, all,
I have a 1986 Guild D212 in Cherry/mahogany color. It's just like the one Tom Petty uses. I know that he uses the M1 Passive pickup, but I think he uses the iMix system for a preamp.
I have heard great things about the Anthem and Lyric pickup, and I am new to acoustic amplification, but I think I want to go with the trusty M1 passive pickup. I know that this requires an external preamp, so my question is, should I get the DI Venue preamp pedal? Can I use that to run into the PA system, instead of plugging into a guitar amp?
thanks!Tags: None
