  • best-sounding strings for X-bridge

    Hi Caleb & Bryan,

What type of strings do you recommend for the most natural-sounding acoustic sound out of the X-bridge? I won't be using the magnetic pickups, so I'm not restricted to standard electric strings.

    Thanks.

I would recommend something like a medium gauge bronze set. Bronze should sound warmer than nickel, and the medium gauge should add to a fuller sound.

More importantly than the strings, I would recommend playing through an amp or PA that will give you a more natural acoustic sound. In my experience, the X-Bridge through a good acoustic preamp/DI into a full PA produces the best "acoustic" sound.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm going through the Ctrl-X as well as a Zoom A2, which I'm reasonably happy with.

Phosphor bronze vs. 80/20, coated vs. uncoated, shouldn't make much difference?

At that point, it's more a matter of your personal taste. I personally prefer Phosphor Bronze Coated Strings. If you don't already have a preference, try a few different ones and see what you like.
