  • Radius-M Questions

    Hi!

I've read that the Radius-M pickup is specifically developed for carved top mandolins. Does that means it is sorta "tuned" to better match the carved top sound?
I was wondering if it would be a good choice even for flat top mandolins (either flatback or bowlback).

    Thanks in advance!

Like you said, the Radius is designed for carved-top mandolins. So while it does "work" on flat-top mandolins, it takes more time to find a good sounding place for the pickup on the top and much more external EQ to get a decent sound. Even then, depending on the instrument, the sound isn't always the best available.

I've talked with a few people who have used the Radius on flat-top mandolins, but the results always vary.
