Anther boxy midrange problem with lyric and Larrivee Lv-03re

Just looking for some advice on removing the boxy mid range I am getting with the lyric.
I have moved the mic position with no success . Even teamed with the venue di . I need
To cut at 500 and 1k drastically . This is a bright guitar and adjusting the pot does help but
Does not take away these frequencies , It also makes it over bright with no low end .
The best position so far has been nearer the low strings , angled a long the brace on the treble side
Made it extremely thin sounding.
I would really like to make this pickup work, it is so close minus the mid range .
Any advice ?

Hi David,

Please say if you are using a PA system or a combo amplifier of some kind. The amplification system you connect to can have a significant impact on the balance of tone reaching your ears. In most cases, a PA system is the best thing to plug into. In some cases, combo amplifiers for acoustic instruments can cause the end result to be mid-range heavy.

Before looking further, let's see if you equipment can be ruled out as a contributor to the heavy mid-range you're hearing.

I have played through a PA system as well as through the speakers and headphones in my
Studio . I have the same problem frequencies in all systems .

I apologize for the delay and thank you for your patience.

More often due to the individual guitars, there have been instances where a Lyric(or Anthem, for that matter) has a less-than-accurate response. In more cases than not, it results in extra mid-range frequencies. In most instances, the resonances emanating from the soundboard or bridge plate are balanced and quite representative of the guitar's overall sound. In some cases, though, there can be an unbalanced tone coming from the bridge plate. It is often because of the individual guitar and not the microphone or your amplification/recording equipment.

Do you have another guitar that you could install the Lyric into in order to test for that possibility? I am happy to supply any adhesives or support materials needed to accomplish that.

Thanks Bryan, I am wondering about the guitar as well ,
I do have an old seagul I will try it in,

I was able to install it in the seagull , very similar results , the larrivee does sound better as it is a much better guitar.
an interesting thing as I held it directly in the sound hole the finished side facing the strings , I had
an smooth rich sound without the boxy mids.
