  • Lyric Classical is here

    Hello,

I am pleased to see that the Lyric for Classical guitar is here.
I would like to fit one to the Fleta copy that I built, when I checked out the bracing pattern, I noticed that there could be an option to mount the mic between main and the diagonal tone bars as well as the recommended position.
How do I attach a picture?

    Can anyone offer any advice?

    Thank you,
    David Norman

There's an "insert image" button on the top of the text field.

For the Lyric-C, I would definitely try the recommended placement first. Then, if you think that the tone can still be improved, then try some other options. Just be sure to adjust the "mic presence" control at each placement in order to hear what the full range of available tone is.

I hope the image is now attached,

Actually, the space that I would try is directly below the "a" position. I've personally found this to be the most consistent position for the Lyric Classical mic.

It may vary a little, but it has worked really well for me.

              Hi Caleb,
Senor Fleta's bracing bars seem very close together . . .
. . . can you let me know the dimensions of the Lyric Mic, and it's weight?
              Thank you,
              David

                The mic weighs .36oz

It measures at 1/2" wide, 3/4"(center width), 2-1/4" long.

Caleb, have you found the alternate position "C" to have any effect on string and fretboard noise? Thx, Mark

                    Caleb,
That leaves 1/16" each side, but the bracing ends are tapering down at point so if the mike is 3mm from the soundboard it should be vertically clear of the tops of the bracing bars.
                    Thank you,
                    David Norman.

Just to clarify, the mic capsule is 3mm from the top. The mic housing adheres directly to the top.

The housing dimensions are what I provided above.

                        Thank you Caleb,
That was my understanding, I just needed to confirm that the ends of the bracing bars do not muffle the sound picked up by the mic.

                            Thanks Caleb,
I have concerns about accurately placing the various parts and the cable clips through the soundhole of an already built guitar, so I am building a cardboard replica for a dummy run . . . if I have to make special tools I will post details to help other users.
Is it possible to let me know the lengths of the three cables - Preamp to mic, preamp to volume control and preamp to battery clip?

                              Hi David,

I'm impressed with the care you're taking with this install. It's good to have a plan of action.

Here are the measurements you requested, from the opening in the shielding tube to the part at the end of the wire:

                              Microphone wire is 9.75"

                              Volume control wire is 16.5"

                              Battery wire is 21.5"
