  • Pre-Amp EQ James Demeter 9 and 18 volt

    Greetings,

Some point in the last 20 years, my wife bought the James Demeter / Preamp EQ 18 volt model for her guitar. After my preamp died, I went searching for the same model as my wife's. They are pretty hard to find but I located one and bought it. The outer gray box is the same but mine is a nine volt model as opposed to my wife's 18 volt box. Can anyone tell me what the difference is? 18-9=9, I get that part.

    Thanks,
    Doug

The 9v Preamp EQ would be pre 1991, which is when the 18v model was released. The 18v PEQ adds a second battery, and a much more complex circuit design- which includes a predecessor to our proprietary input circuit.

I've personally never used the 18v version, so that's about all that I can tell you.

      Caleb,

That is more than I knew before. I always felt like my wife's 18V model sounded a little richer. Thanks for filling me in.
