Looking for discontinued LBC nylon guitar version of LB6

Dear all,

I have been looking everywhere for an LBC (+lr baggs deluxe acoustic eq preferably) saddle pickup which is the nylon guitar version of an LB6.
I have one of these on an old early 90ies La Patrie. I'm a touring musician but unfortunately the guitar is far too worn out to be taken on tour. I've had to buy the same model, which sounds fairly similar, but it does not come with a pickup. I have tried the Godin electronics that come with the new versions but they sound nothing like it.
I have stripped my old guitar of its system for now and put it on the new one, but would eventually like to have them both fitted with the same system to be able to use the old one as a spare for instance.

Any clue as to where I could find one of these?

Any idea of which models were equipped with the same system back in the early 90ies? that would be another option...

Hey Natcole,
You are definitely going to have a hard time finding a Deluxe Acoustic EQ, but the pickup should be easy enough.

The LB-C isn't in production anymore, but the LB6X is currently available and has the same traditional classical string spacing (2-1/4"). You can order the LB6X with the optional LB Pre which would allow you to have a sound hole mounted volume control, and endpin preamp/jack. The sound should be similar to the DAEQ, but minus the EQ controls.

The only gear combination that would get you closer to the sound of the DAEQ is an LB6X, run passively (no onboard preamp) into a Para DI preamp. The Para DI has very similar EQ bands compared to the Deluxe Acoustic. So you should be able to dial in a very similar sound.

Out of sheer curiosity though, does anyone know a few fairly cheap/ popular models that came with a deluxe acoustic eq back in the 90ies? I've used this thing for a good 20 years now, would be lost without it ;-)

The Deluxe Acoustic EQ was actually a pretty high end system when it was available, so you probably won't find it on too many low or mid-level guitars, unless it was installed aftermarket. That system did come stock on the Taylor Doyle Dykes Signature Model (DDSM), with the Hex pickups. Other than that, it was primarily an aftermarket or retail system.

A slightly modified version of that preamp was made for Seagull, called the Acoustic Timber. The main difference in that system is that it was slightly tweaked in order to utilize the Ribbon Transducer as the stock pickup.
