  • LR Baggs Stage Pro's battery compartment stuck in brand new guitar

    Hello,

I bought a new Breedlove today but when I got home I realized that the battery compartment was depressed a few millimeters and stuck.

The only way I have been able to get it out is by removing the two screws close to the battery and then using a pick as a lever. The plastic battery holder and the springs all seem to be in order. But when I push it in place (with or without a battery inside), it gets stuck again.

I really don't want to go through exercise every time I need to replace the battery, so I think I am going to return the guitar tomorrow.

    Any recommendations before I do?

    Thanks!

I've only seen the battery compartment get stuck when the drawer was put in without a battery. The springs may have been tweaked, even if they look ok. That's not something that I've seen before.

Have you already returned the guitar?

I have had the battery door stick on one I installed. I happens when you push it in too far. I just cautioned the owner to just push it in til it clicks and no further.

I didn't get the memo recommending not pushing in a battery drawer - emptied to preclude risk of dead battery corrosion - because it will become stuck. Quite a novel twist for battery drawers.
So, what's the procedure for opening a stuck battery drawer, please?

If the battery springs are stuck on the battery box, you just have to pull the battery box out slowly and firmly. The springs should just snap back into place.

If you happen to damage the springs (which shouldn't happen), they can be replaced without too much difficulty.
