Help me choos: Anthem or Lyric

Hi Guys.

I am brazilian and want congratulate you for the amazing job with your pickups.
First off all, sorry for my English
Help me choose the best product to me.
I want to play gigs in small restaurants, cafes, bars, partyes, etc (for just around 30 ~ 50 people). I'll buy one amplifier (probably a Fishman Loudbox or a Roland AC 60/90), in some cases i'll play through a small/portable PA's systems.
I have a Yamaha F370 guitar (http://br.yamaha.com/pt/products/mus...70/?mode=model) it's a low cost Dred guitar but i really like the sound (like the most of the guitar players, i'm dreaming with a Martin ) )
My style of playing is fingerstyle and strumming.
I studied and listened a lot (in youtube) about Anthem SL and the Lyric.
I prefer the Lyric over the Anthem SL for the given reasons:
- Ease of install (later i will get a better guitar i want to keep the L.R. Baggs system)
- More fidelity of the acoustic sound.
- $100 cheaper (My mistake they are same price)

If a choose the Lyric:
1) Considering the use i described, will i have problems with feedback or difficulties to properly equalization?
2) I will miss the control of relative volume of the piezo/mic
3) I will regret not having the versatility of the Anthem SL?

I'm kinda new here too, but I've been installing LR Baggs pickups for about 15 years now. The Tru-mic stuff is the best they've ever done in my opinion. I personally have a Lyric in my small bodied all-mahogony 00 size guitar on which I play mostly fingerstyle. It sounds really, really great...just like my guitar, but what i kind of miss is the attack I get from undersaddle pickups. It just takes some getting used to. I've installed several of the Anthem SL and I think they are fabulous...I actually prefer it to the regular Anthem. Most notably on stage they've got a nice boost in the low end...and especially in a boomy Dreadnought they sound great. I'm not sure about Brazil, but here in the States they Lyric and Anthem SL are the same price.

You are correct that the installation is easier with the Lyric. I don't think you could go wrong with either one!

You are correct that the installation is easier with the Lyric. I don't think you could go wrong with either one!

I would definitely agree with Bryan; I don't think you can go wrong with the SL or the Lyric.

The SL would give you a little more low-end punch in live performance situations. However, the Lyric can be EQ'd to have a bigger bass as well. More bass in the Lyric could mean decreased feedback resistance in live situations, but that will depend on the venue you play in and the sound system. When installed well, the Lyric has an excellent tonal balance, and performs well in a wide variety of situations.

The SL is my all-time favorite system, but I will readily say that the Lyric is capable of a more natural sound.

I am a newbie in the sound subject, i know whats is the "quack" or the "piezo sound" and i hate it. So, can you explain me whats is the "low-end punch". (if you have some samples, it will be useful for me)

Quack and "Piezo sound" typically happen in the mid-range of a Piezo pickup(300 to 1.5khz), and they are a natural part of every undersaddle pickup (that I've ever played, at least). The "Punch" that I was referring to is a low frequency "thud" that is heard underneath the note, adding to the attack. Again, this is a natural part of the Piezo's response to the guitar even though it is not something that the guitar does acoustically.

The Lyric, like any microphone, doesn't have this response. However, if you have played undersaddle Piezo pickups before, it is something that many players, like Bryan, miss in the amplified signal. It isn't natural, like I said, but it does help the amplified signal cut through the mix more than it would acoustically.

Piezo undersaddle pickups are said to have an "immediate" response and feel when you play them. This is typically coming from that "Piezo punch".

It's all pretty confusing. If you have more questions, we're all happy to offer our thoughts.

for now, i'am pending myself for the Lyric.
I probably will install the Lyric in a Martin DRS2 (All solid with a good bass).

With the Lyric, what you hear acoustically is pretty much what you get through the speakers. The room and the amplification system will vary a little, but you should get pretty consistent results. In the event that you need a little EQ for a certain room, you still should need too much.
