  • M80 placement and a tone

    Hi,

Due to my bad strumming stroke habit (I stroke/strum quite close to the neck and to the body on the top side of the neck), I keep hitting the M80 PickUp with my pick when I play quite hard, so I was wondering if I can change the placement of M80 angled like \ angle (top backward and bottom bit forwarded). Will it change/compromise the tone of the PU?

I quite like the sound/tone of the M80 and I know I need to improve my strumming so been paying much more attention while I'm practising but when I actually play live, I find myself keep hitting it with pick so I was wondering if there is any quick fix for now, probably with the placement.

Thank you for your help in advance!

    Regards,

    Boris

You can angle the pickup. Just try to keep the poles aligned under the strings as much as possible. The further back the pickup is in the soundhole, the brighter and more "present" it will sound. Much like switching from the neck pickup to the bridge pickup on an electric guitar. So play around with it and see what you like.
