Technique!

Good technique is what i used when i played the iBeam %100 with the iMix I use t have. Eventaully, you will train yourself not to hit un-needed places on the guitar. haha.

The Lyric is prone to have more handling noise, compared to a lot of other pickup systems- it is an internal microphone. Satin finishes can also increase the amount of handling noise that you get from the Lyric.

If you have the Presence adjust all the way down, how is the tone of the system? Is is still bright? Typically, with the Presence down (counter-clockwise), you should be getting a darker tone.

What are you playing the Lyric through?

Well I'll be dipped in sh*t - I have an Anthem SL that gives this type of problem - I have two SL's in other guitars and they're great - the one with the issue is a Sigma 12 fret mahogany with a satin finish - I set my SL's with more mic than piezo as the sound is more natural - something that has been addressed by the Lyric apparently apart from combatting satin finishes - bizarre! Maybe it would be worthwhile experimenting with different mic locations on a satin finished guitar.....?

Playing through a Roland Cube....probably not the best for an acoustic setup but it is what I have...I have been adjusting the bass, mid and hi ends and get a little better response but am still looking for a way to really dial it in.

I can see how the Cube might be the "weakest link" in your signal chain, but hey, if it works, it works...

You can always upgrade the amp in the future.

I am having trouble with excessive handling noise. Primarily bumps and taps on the body of the guitar are amplified and very bright when hitting the strings. I have adjusted the presence control to the minimum amount. The Lyric was professionally installed by my luthier.

What would you advise doing next?
