  • Suggested for ParaDI??

I recently bought a Para DI to use on gypsy jazz gigs with large PAs. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to start with the settings? I'm a little overwhelmed with the choices and flexibility. How do you set it flat, especially with the notches and midrange sweep?

I'm playing a Gitane with a K&K Pure Macaferri pickup, and I'm looking for a big, warm sound, similar to what you'd get out of a nylon string guitar. This guitar doesn't behave like a Martin/Guid/Gibson/Taylor, and that's not the sound I'm going for anyway.

    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for posting! I love jazz guitar tones, so hopefully I can help out a bit in getting you pointed in the right direction.

In order to set the EQ on the Para DI "flat", you just have to set everything to 12 o'clock (0). If the Low, Notch, Mid, Pres, and Treb are set flat, then the position of the GADB and KHZ knobs will not effect anything. You will need to have the Notch or Mid knobs boosted or cut in order to hear the effect of the connected controls. Does that make sense?

From there, you should be able to roll your higher frequencies down, or add a boost in the low mids to warm up the signal, and get a warmer and bigger sound.

    I hope that helps.
