  • LR Baggs Venue Not Working?

    Hi there

I recently bought a Venue Preamp DI from eBay (I'm in the UK) When i tried the unit it didn't work, the battery check lights lit up but when I plugged a jack into the input nothing happened, I tried a new battery, 2 different 9v power adapters but still nothing. The seller has said he will take the unit back, but he assured me it was working when he sent it (it was second hand) I am just wondering if this is a fault that is known or has occurred before, and if there is a easy fix for this as I would prefer to get the unit working if possible.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Chris,
Are you getting any lights to come on? Or is the DI just not passing any signal?

The only thing that I can think of is to check to make sure that you are not using a stereo or balanced cable on the DI's input. You need a mono/unbalanced instrument cable to turn the DI on.

    Cheers!

Hi there, I'm not getting any lights at all (apart from the battery check lights), it's as if there's no power going to the unit

Are the battery check lights always on? or only when you press the Batt Check button?

If the lights are coming on when you hit the button, that means that the DI is getting power.

          Hi

The check battery light comes on when the check button is pressed (even without a jack inserted) but nothing else works

          Cheers

            Ok,
I brought before the balanced vs. unbalanced cables. Can you tell me what you're using on the into the DI's input?

Hi I've tried a couple of guitars, one with a fishman neo d fitted and another with rare earth burg with normal unbalanced jacks

              Cheers

                Chris,
I was actually referring to the cables that you are using in between the guitar and the Venue. If the cable from the guitar to the Venue is balanced, it will not turn the DI on. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

Any unbalanced instrument cable should turn the DI on. If the DI is not turning on when a compatible cable is plugged into the input, especially if the battery check is showing good voltage, then there may be a problem with the input section of the preamp.

                I hope that helps.

                  Hi caleb

Yes I've only used unbalanced leads, so there must be an issue, I'm not sure where to go next, is this easily repaired? I think it may be best to return it to the seller of it's going to be a difficult process to fix.

Im getting a lyric pickup fitted into my guitar so really want to get the venue to compliment it.

Ps I must say it's great that you've responded so quick on these forums so there's a thumbs up from me on your customer service

It's difficult to say if it would be "easily" repaired. It would likely have to come back to us in any case though. You can send it in directly, or you can return it through eBay and the seller would probably need to send it in.

The Lyric and the Venue are an excellent combination, so I would love to get that Venue working for you. If you do want to send it directly, just send me an email at [email protected].

Thanks Caleb, I think the best thing is for me to send it back to the seller, I'll then just order a new one, I'm looking forward toget ting it all set up!

                      Cheers

I am having the same issue with my Venue di. It worked great for years with batteries. The first time I plugged it in with a 9v adapter. It stopped working with the plug or batteries. I plug the guitar cable in and nothing. The battery light is green when I push the test button. Do I need to send it in? If so, where?

                        Thanks
