Long time reader, new member and first time poster.
I have a number of guitars with an element pick up, a Martin 00015 with an imix with an element and an Ibeam, a J45 with an element, and a breedlove concert series with an element and they all sound amazing. The pickups have been very consistent from guitar to guitar, denoting the strengths of each one as you would expect. So much so that I haven't felt the need for a preamp.
I recently completely rebuilt a mid 60's Harmony sovereign, including converting to x bracing from ladder bracing and am excited to say, it sounds great. Unplugged the strings blend well and is very balanced.
After playing it for about a month, I installed an element pickup. When playing through the pickup, the strings sound much more deliberate and separate than any of my other guitars, and the bass is much more booming. I expected to get a lot of bass as I have heard these guitars are known for that, but the strings don't seem to blend as they do on any of my other guitars when plugged in. The sovereign is a spruce top and Mahogany back and sides. I recently purchase a Venue hoping I could shape the sound and I can, but the strings still do not seem to blend as they do unplugged, or as any of my other guitars do when plugged in. Any ideas on what it might be?
