Caleb - what more can you tell us about the Comp+EQ knob? There's mention of multi-band compression in the video....which bands?

Like a lot of people, I use (and love) the Lyric in my guitar but find it needs careful EQ'ing especially in the lower mids. Not a problem with a Para DI with it's sweepable mid but I'd be worried I couldn't dial that out with a one-knob EQ...?

Would appreciate your thoughts on this as the other features about this box are super appealing!

    Thanks,

    LC

I'm really hoping a tuner-out jack is included in the final design and that the price point is more on the ParaDI end vs. the VenueDI end of the spectrum!

        Session and Para DI?

Can you share whether and how it could make sense for one to use the Session in the same chain as the Para DI? I recently had a Lyric installed in my Martin OM and am interested in enhancing the bass response and general sense of punchiness and dynamic range. I *think* I might want the EQ from the Para as well as the saturation increase from the Session, but I'm not an expert.

          Hey LC,
I can't really get into detailed specifics, but the tuning of the three compression bands are tuned at very finely-tuned frequency points associated with problem frequencies on acoustic pickups (UST's, Mags, Mics, etc.). Our tuning of the Comp-EQ allows the compression knob to be a wet/dry blend for the compressed signal. The more you engage the effect, the more the problem areas get smoothed out.

When I used the Session prototype with my Anthem SL at a gig, I was able to use the Comp-EQ, no other EQ, and I got the best sound that I've ever gotten from that guitar in a live setting. I was completely blown away at how well it smoothed out the things that I would usually go after with EQ. This won't be the case for everybody, but it really impressed me.

Some people who have greater EQ needs will greatly benefit from a little EQ, either before or after the Session.

I don't know that it will have a tuner out, but you never know. The price is set to be $250 (street).

The saturation is mainly going to warm up the low-mids, and not have as much effect on the low-lows. That is definitely something that EQ would be better suited for- I totally agree.

                Availability...?

Please forgive me if I missed it, but when will the Session DI be available for purchase?

The Session should be ready to ship to dealers around late April to early May.

We do have a pretty large pre-order list going, so you may want to talk to your favorite retailer to make sure that they are in line.

                      A/B Examples

                      Caleb,

I'm having a hard time finding any example so far of the Session DI with the Lyric. Any chance of providing some examples? Or need someone to make some examples?

This is looking like it will be an ideal setup for me to put in my Larrivee. I'm a bluegrass flatpicker and being able to finally get a mic'd sound but plugged in is making me very excited.

                      -Brent

Much appreciated Caleb. Looking forward to it.

I have the Lyric on order right now which I'll pair up with a PADI, but the Session seems like the real sweet matchup.

Where can I pre order the session?

You mentioned it but I can't seem to find it anywhere for pre-order.

I know that some shops are taking pre-orders, but you may need to talk to a sales rep in person. Even if a certain shop isn't in line yet, it just takes one call.

We have a lot of local shops who have already called in and reserved a few units. If you have a favorite local shop, you should be able to get one through them.
