  • Anthem in Blueridge BR40T Tenor guitar?

So I picked up this inexpensive tenor guitar from Blueridge and I've fallen in love with it. I'm trying to justify putting a $200 or $300 (SL or Anthem) pickup in a $400 guitar, but there aren't exactly a wealth of tenor guitars available out there, and I love the way this guitar sounds. With the parlor sized body and 4 strings and slightly wider string spacing, is this a bad idea? If this isn't a terrible idea, could anybody tell me if there is a good reason to get the Anthem rather than the SL for this specific guitar? I tune in Irish tuning, btw, GDAE low to high, with string gauges 042, 030, 020 and 013, if this is any consideration. Thank you for your time.

      Hey piousdevil,
I definitely don't think that it's ever a bad idea to install a good pickup in a guitar that you love the sound of. I have a inexpensive Recording King that i love, and I have the Anthem SL in it. The combination of the guitar and pickup is amazing!

I don't know that you would need to go with the full Anthem though. The Anthem SL, at least in my opinion, has the best qualities of the Anthem, but in a smaller (and cheaper) package.

You shouldn't have any issues with your guitar being a tenor either.

I really appreciate your reply. The Anthem SL it is, then. Then some 4 stringin' fury!

Also, the Image Verification on this forum is torturous. I don't know if it's because I'm colorblind, but a lot of them are impossible for me to make out.

          I'm happy to help!

That image verification has given us some trouble, due to it's difficulty. It has cut down on a lot of spam though. It is something that we're working on pretty consistently.

Got the Anthem installed and it sounds great through my fishman loudbox mini. Just beautiful, ringing tones. I am not disappointed.
