  • M80/Anthem SL combo (a la Charlie Worsham)

Saw the video LR Baggs did with Charlie Worsham, and my customer really wanted to try the M80/Anthem SL combo. This was a Taylor that was gutted and fitted with the TruPlug (an aluminum plate that fills the chasm left when you remove the Taylor ES system). I drilled an additional hole in the plate so I could install two outputs. The plate is about 1/4" thick so drilling a smaller 3/8" hole allowed me to recess the second jack and make it look a lot cleaner without a second strap button.

He's gonna run the M80 out to a pedal board and the Anthem SL out to a Session DI...just like the Worsham video. This thing is a beast with tons of options.

That's a really clean installation for a retrofit- great job!

A lot of people have been asking about this setup. It's nice to see it in pictures (instead of pausing the video).

    Thanks for sharing!

      Nice job

I wonder if you can fit a full anthem (non sl) and the m80 in a guitar.

It's possible, but I wouldn't have worked in this guitar because the bracing inside the soundhole would have been in the way. That Anthem preamp is quite a bit larger than the SL.

Is the M80 is an active or passive unit? For exemple, if I want to use this setup to plug in a mixer (mine is à Mackie 1402vlz3), what should I use to plug the Anthem and what for the M80?
I'am realy consider to try an hot setup for m'y New Seagull Entourage Rustic guitar.
          Thank you!

The M80 actually has Active and Passive capabilities. So you can set it to Active mode and run it directly into your mixer. Or you can use Passive mode and run into a compatible external or internal preamp, before going into your mixer.

The Anthem doesn't require an external preamp in order to plug into a mixer, but many players prefer the tone of their pickups, active or passive, when played through a preamp/EQ/DI first. I've personally used the Para DI for about 13 years, and the Venue for about 6, and I would never play without a good DI again.

The guitar sound in that Charlie Worsham video is just spectacular. I've listened to all the M80/Anthem demos on YouTube and that one just stands out head and shoulders above any of the rest. Certainly the best pickup' guitar sound I have ever heard.

                Guys
I'm trying to indentify all the pedals in Charlie Worsham's setup.
                Anyone familiar with it.
                Thanks

                  Hey Tseusus,
I'll tell you what I've picked up from the video. Unfortunately, I haven't seen it in person.

On his "acoustic" board, he has two PAra DI's and a Zvex Super Hard On boost.

His electric board, which he runs the M80 through, has the Radial Tonebone Twin-City switcher, Morgan Fuzz, JHS Angry Charlie V2, DMB Stellar Drive, Electro Harmonix Pog 2, Strymon OB1, El Capistan, Flint (with favorite switch), and Brigadier (with favorite switch), Pererson Stomp Classic tuner, Boss GE-7 EQ (Modded by Xact Tone Solutions), and two Radial JDI's.

                  That's that I see.
