I agree! I'm gonna try this on the next 9V ES I get in. Being able to utilize the battery compartment would be a bonus.

LR Baggs Lyric and Taylor ES battery compartment

Hi Caleb, here are some pictures of my guitars, showing the Lyric preamp attached to the ES battery comparment.

First I had the ES and the Lyric installed in my guitars, that's why there is a hole above the battery compartment.

Here is a close up showing the endpin of the Lyric.

This is a picture of the Lyric's preamp attached to the battery compartment. The endpin fits nicely through the hole were the ES-endpin was connected to the circuit board.
Installing the Lyric is the easiest part, the hard part is to remove the Expression System.

When you loosen the endpinpart of the compartment and remove it together with the circuit board, you can install the preamp from the LR Baggs PU instead.

If you want, I can take a picture of the battery compartment with the Lyric preamp and post it here.
If you have pictures, I think some users would really appreciate it. Sadly, up to this point, I've never thought to take pictures of any of the ES retrofits that I've done.

It definitely depends on which model you have. You can see Bryan's pictures here: http://www.lrbaggs.com/forum/showthr...arlie-Worsham)

I've done retrofits on both style ES's (9v and AA), and they both have their difficulties. A good Luthier can generally make it work without too much trouble though.

Here's the only link you need: http://www.truplugusa.com/

I think they are out of production currently, but if yours is the older AA system, then there may be some available on AllParts.com

I just recently did one, and there are photos here a few threads down.

    Taylor ES system retro fit

I'm wanting to replace a Taylor ES system with the LR Baggs Anthem. I tried to search this subject in advance but was unable to find anything on it so my aplogies if this has already been covered.
I would just like to hear about what challenges I may run into as the ES system uses up the tail block that the jack is secured into.

    Thanks
Working...
