i just had the LR Baggs Anthem installed. The mic was installed on the back of the guitar not on the underside of the bridgeplate. Is this ok and will it work well? I have the anthem installed on three other guitars and they are all on the underside of the bridgeplate.

The mic will not perform well when mounted to the back of the guitar. The mic itself faces the surface that it's mounted on, and since the back doesn't really contribute to the sound in the same way as the top, you're going to lose a lot of energy in your sound. I would definitely recommend getting that repositioned in the standard placement.
