Anthem SL muddy.

I reinstalled an Anthem SL in my Yamaha FG 336SB, after taking it out of another guitar. I'm running it through the VENUE DI as well, and it's sounding muddy, and I have to do extreme adjustments to get it to sound halfway decent, when it should be responsive to minor adjustments. I took it out, and plugged it in. The undersaddle strip is responsive to touching, but when I tap or speak into the mic, it sounds like an amp with a torn speaker cone. I wonder if it's the endpin. Suggestions?

Hey Chief,
The Anthem SL mic only carries sound above 250Hz, so it is going to sound kind of thin or tinny compared to tapping or blowing on a regular mic.

When you had the system in the guitar, did you turn up the Mic-Level control to try and get more sound from the mic?

I did. I took it out of the Yamaha, put in in a Jumbo bodied acoustic. It sounded great, for one song through the PA, then it went full mud, no manner of tweaking solved the issue.
