  • Anthem rattle , buzz (mechanical not electrical)

Has anyone experienced a rattle/buzz coming from your anthem? It sounds like it is coming from either the ust or the actual volume / blend wheels. I purchased my Gibson SJ-200 last week, it wasn’t doing it then, I started to notice it yesterday while practicing. Is this buzz normal?

To clarify, it sounds like the type of buzz that strings make when they are buzzing on the frets when the action is too low.

I've only seen the Anthem preamp rattle with much older Anthem systems. Now the preamps use foam on the inside to prevent internal rattles. Was the Anthem installed from the Gibson factory? If it was, the system should be newer. If that is the case, the preamp "lip" could just be resting up against the edge of the soundhole in a way that causes it to rattle at certain frequencies. Remounting the preamp usually fixes that kind of issue.

If you need some more adhesives to remount the preamp, let me know at [email protected].

Caleb_Elling Yes it was installed at the Gibson factory (guitar came equipped) As well as the rattle, I’ve begun noticing a loud popping noise (or rather a quick succession of popping noises) that happens intermittently while I am playing. It happened while the band was practicing today a few times. It was as if the signal was lost and quickly reconnected a bunch of times in a row in fast succession.

would you happen to know what this is a symptom of?

It sounds like there might be two different things happening here. The rattle and the popping are likely unrelated.

If you want to email me directly at [email protected], I can respond more quickly and try to help you find a solution.
