  • Tru Mic question

    Hello,

I have an Anthem SL installed on my Martin D-16GT guitar by a professional qualified guitar tech. I just have a quick question about the Tru Mic. Is this like an omni directional, 360 degrees condenser microphone?

I just asked, because from a photo that I took from the inside of the guitar you can see that the Tru Mic was not totally centered, it is slightly tilted to the right. It does sit just fine on the bridge plate, just not centered like in the LR Baggs instalation instructions.

I just wanted to make sure this may not be afecting the sound.

    Thanks a lot!

    Hey Javier,

I used the Lyric for a number of years and I don’t think a slight mic misplacement will make any kind of difference to the sound.

    Regards

The Tru-Mic is a bit counter-intuitive since the actual mic is pointed toward the mounting surface. The mic and housing design make the mic a boundary mic, effectively canceling out the sound coming in from the back and isolating the sound from the guitar top. So as long as the mic is mounted on a flat surface, small adjustments should not make a noticeable difference in the tone quality.

To me, that installation looks just fine.
