Anthem hiss, noise, sizzle

I am having problems with my Anthem pickup in my Eastman guitar. The pickup was installed by Eastman. The pickup produces noise and sizzle. As soon as I press the phase reverse switch everything is gone.

Is this normal?

Just to clarify one thing, when you hit the phase do you lose the noise and sizzle? Or do you lose all output completely?

Neither of those situations would be normal, so there is definitely something going on.

When I press the phase button, the noise goes away completely. The sound is then very clear.
