If you press down on the face of the controls where it says "Element", the whole front should pop up revealing the battery drawer. Pressing it back in should lock it back in place.

That didn’t work, it does move and feels like theres a spring, but it doesnt pop out.

If the battery drawer doesn't have a battery in it, the actual plastic part of the carrier can get stuck on the springs. There's only one way to remove the battery on that system.
