I purchased a used guitar with an EAS installed. The pickup works and sounds great but the volume control does not work. It appears to be wired correctly. Might this be due to a dead battery - WHen I change the strings I’ll change the battery anyway but want to know if my assumption might be the cause. Thanks.

If the system is putting out a signal, it shouldn't be a battery issue.
It could be a bad connection on the preamp side, or possibly that the thumbwheel itself is not making good contact. In any case, if you want to email me at [email protected], I will see what I can do to help you get that fixed if you want.
