What exactly is the difference in specs between the element VTC & VTC Nylon? Is it the contour of the end pin preamp? I would love to know these exact specs.

That is exactly right, the difference is in the preamp's built-in EQ curve. While the exact specs are proprietary, the steel-string version has more of a mid-cut, while the nylon-string version has a more neutral mid-range. It's a fairly subtle difference on a scope, but it makes a noticeable difference in the guitar.
