  • Lyric placement on guitar with longitudinal brace

The bracing on my guitars includes a fly-over brace on the bridge plate. With this in the way (and the bridge pin holes, which aren't yet drilled in this picture), I can't install a Lyric pickup in the usual place. I've read that placement is not critical so would placing the pickup behind the bridge plate, probably alongside the fly-over brace work? Would you have a preference for the bass or treble side of the brace?

    Hey Fretlad,
That is a unique bracing pattern, to say the least.

On classical guitars, the Lyric mic is usually positioned on the treble side of the center fan-brace, and that works great. You may need to experiment a little bit to get the best sound, but I would start with the mic behind the bridgeplate, on the treble side of the center brace.

    Keep us posted.
