M1 poles height

I see people setting up the poles of the M1 at very different heights, what is the consensus? ,better just slightly coming up from the holes or sticking out the closest possible to the strings?

The stock pole height usually works just fine for most players using bronze-based strings. Most people only adjust the pole height to balance the string-to-string output, or to adjust for nickel strings.

In my opinion, maximizing the pole height doesn't provide any tonal benefit.

I agree, just before my gig tonight I raised four of them to the limit ,starting with low E string.More output but not substantial tonal differences.
