  • M80 and Nickel String

    Good day everyone!

So, my guitar is EPIPHONE EJ160E JOHN LENNON SERIES, which use a nickel string (to produce that beatles sound) instead the bronze one. By the way, just for additional information, not so important though, my guitar already has a pick up that John Lennon used to use it for ELECTRIC SOUND. Then I looking for a M80 to take the Acoustic Sound.

Well, can anyone tell me how the M80 works and sounds with the nickel string, please? (compared with the original sound of an acoustic guitar with nickel string, don't compare it with the original sound of the bronze acoustic guitar)

Okay, I'm waiting for anyone responses, this is my last consideration to buy it after watching a lot of review videos. Thank you in advance!

    Hello alutfim,
The M80 will definitely work with nickel strings. You will want to change out the B and high E pole-pieces with the provided set of 3/4" pole pieces in order for the strings to balance, but that's the only thing that you should need to do. It's a pretty easy process using the provided Allen wrench.

The M80 Manual has a pretty good description of this process on the last page, if you're interested in checking it out. http://www.lrbaggs.com/sites/default...m80_manual.pdf

    I hope that helps!

      Thank you, that's very helpful!

Hmm, I think I've made a decision, I decided the M80 instead Lyric because there are several issues in Lyric I guess. And the other reason is I've watched several of my favorite bands (The kooks and The Last Shadow Puppets) using the M1 and it sounds great! I think the M80 will sounds better and more body which I like.

Okay, gonna order the m80 soon, and I'll give my best to share a review for anyone who has a nickel string (there isn't a review with a nickel string I think). Cheers
