  • M80 volume slider does nothing

I have just purchased an M80 and installed it with a stereo jack along side my Anthem StagePro for a stereo setup. I quickly realized that the volume slider does absolutely nothing. I have only tried it in passive mode, I haven't even installed the battery in it yet.

Is the volume slider supposed to not function in passive mode?

    Hi jlaustill,
That sounds like a pretty extensive setup! The Anthem and the M80 in stereo should give you a ton of tonal possibilities.

The M80's volume wheel is only connected to the Active portion of the M80's circuitry. So if you are in Passive Mode, the volume control will not work.

I'd love to hear more about your setup, if you ever get a chance to post more.

Awesome, sounds like it is working as expected then .

My guitar is a Larivee LV-03RE that came with the original StagePro element that didn't have the tuner built in. I upgraded it to an Anthem StagePro awhile back and that improved the output about a billion times. What I was lacking was the low end for a bass drum effect with pounding on the body. The Anthem only gets < 250Hz from the UST, and the UST doesn't pick up body pounding at all from what I can tell.

I saw a video of the M80 picking up tapping and body pounding amazingly well, so I decided to give it a shot. I am pairing it with a D-Tar Solstice preamp. I have quite a bit of work to do to dial it in, but I wanted to make sure it was working as expected before messing with it too much.

The output of the M80 in passive mode is considerably less than the Anthem, which has it's own preamp(I expected this), so I will need to figure out how to adjust the gain on the Solstice. Then I have a noticeable body boom at about 220Hz, and with both pickups combined it comes out BIG TIME. With just the anthem I could dial it out with the notch filter.

Once I get it dialed in I will make some recordings and post again. I think it is going to be AMAZING. It already sounds pretty darn good, I would say the best plugged in sound I've ever heard. I just need to fine tune it

        That sounds great!

You might also want to try inverting the phase on the Anthem preamp. If the two systems are out of phase, the sound could have some odd overtones.

Feel free to post any recordings or videos of your setup, if you get time to put anything together.

        Thanks for sharing!
