  • M1A and thumb slapping

Currently considering a M1A pickup, main concern is how much does it protrude out from the sound hole? I like to play with thumb slapping the lower strings, will be pickups be in the way of anything or will the strings hit the poles? I measured and I have approximately 9-10mm clearance from soundhole to bottom of my strings, is that enough?

    Hey mtwd8,
The M1 top sits about 5mm above the top of the guitar if the pole pieces are set flush with the pickup.

Any string slaps do tend to be pretty pronounced in a magnetic pickup, but the effect can be minimized by lowering the pole pieces. With a few adjustments, the M1A should work fine for your style of playing.

    I hope this helps.
