Effects loop headaches

I use my LR Baggs para acoustic DI to notch out unwanted feedback on a particular frequency. This for my personal amplifier only... Not the house system. Here's what I want to do: plug my guitar in to the LR Baggs, then place a reverb pedal in the effects loop. The output of the reverb pedal has a splitter cable, so that one signal goes to the house system (no eq or notch) and the other signal goes to "return" back into the LR Baggs for notch & eq, then the 1/4 inch output of the LR Baggs goes to my personal amplifier....effectively cutting out feedback. But it doesn't work. The 1/4 output of the LR Baggs gets killed whenever I plug in a "T-R-C" cable to the effects loop. And I don't want the notched sound from the LR Baggs to go to the house system.

Are you using a TRS/Stereo Y cable in the Para's FX Loop? In order to use the loop properly, you need to plug the TRS end into the FX loop with the "tip" end of the Y going into your reverb. The "ring" end of the Y should be coming out of the reverb, or in your case, the splitter. Is that how it's run now?

If you are using an active pickup, you may have better results going into the reverb first, and then splitting the signal into your PA and DI/amp.

I think what's happening is that the unbalanced 1/4 inch output cannot be used whenever a cable is plugged into the effects loop jack (of the LR Baggs). I haven't tried the xlr output because I can't plug a xlr cable directly into my amp.

Both the XLR and 1/4" outputs should work just fine when the FX Loop is used.

Maybe try it without the splitter to make sure it works that way.

Sorry for the delayed response. I wasn't able to to get to my system for a while. My church was under Covid quarantine lock down, with my LR Baggs inside. Anyway, As long as I have anything in the effects loop of the LR Baggs, then the unbalanced 1/4 jack output actually has a very small signal and the volume is drastically reduced. I tried the XLR output of the LR Baggs... it's just a little bit better, but not good enough to use in front of a live audience. I almost have to turn up the volume to max which introduces undesired hiss sound.

The effects loop idea simply is not unusable for professional purposes. So I'm back to using an additional preamp before the reverb pedal, then into the LR Baggs to notch out unwanted feedback. A splitter cable can be placed between the output of the reverb pedal and the input of the LR Baggs Para Acoustic DI.

And to answer your questions : yes, I'm using a TRS/Stereo "Y" cable. No, it's not an active pickup... it's a plain-old vanilla passive pup. The LR Baggs is a great pedal...just can't take advantage of using the internal preamp then interrupting it's signal path via the effects loop without loss of volume.

That is really odd. How old is your Para DI?

The only other thing I can think of is another obvious one, to make sure that the "tip" end of the Y-cable into going into the input of your reverb and the "ring" end is coming from the output. I'm sure you've double checked that though or you likely wouldn't get any signal at all when using the Loop.
