Thanks Caleb - I'll probably go with the Venue first. Then if I get really adventurous for any effects then it will no doubt be down the slippery road of gathering pedals! Thanks for your advice there. Appreciated.

    Hey John,
    Thanks for posting.

The Session and Venue are both excellent DI's, with very different feature sets.

The Venue is designed for more precise control over your signal. The EQ on the Venue is a powerful tool if you know what you're doing.

The Session is a lot simpler, using multi-band compression and saturation to shape the tone. These controls are easier to set-and-forget, while still adding great texture and balance to the guitar tone. I personally love the Session DI for live use.

If you are going to be doing some recording as well as live playing, I would probably recommend the Venue over the Session. Specifically, because the Saturation on the Session sounds better live than it does in recordings (in my opinion). The Venue sounds equally as good for live and recorded music.

    That's my opinion at least.

    LR Baggs Newbie DI Question

I have finally succumbed and decided to get the full Anthem system installed in my 2012 Martin D28, which is sounding beautiful.

I will mainly be using it in the home for pleasure, through a wonderful Blackstar Sonnet 120 amp. At the moment, I am playing in the house with guitar micd and am really enjoying this new sound.

However, I want my lad to be able to use it in band projects on his college music course, if acoustic is needed. There will also be some playing about with home recording.

Lockdown restrictions are easing and my guitar shop will open again soon, so looking forward to experimenting.

With a view to a DI - I'm considering the Venue or the Session and not sure which way to go. Just wondering what advice members may have for someone just starting out on this road - I don't have the capacity for mistake purchases at the moment!

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.
