  • Voiceprint vs Venue DI

Hello All. I'm new to the forum. I've got a PRS HB2-Piezo which I send directly to the PA. I just wondered if I'd get more out of it live, and if it was even possible to use a Voiceprint pedal to capture a fuller, more acoustic body sound. We play some Beatles/Who/XTC/Radiohead originals and covers and I'm thinking I could get away with less guitar swaps playing live and use the hollowbody more. The blended sound is fantastic, its just when I'm on pure piezo I was thinking of enhancing it. The other route was probably going to be experimenting with some acoustic IR's through a small Helix maybe. Thanks for your time.

    Hey Nicko,
The Voiceprint DI relies pretty heavily on the unplugged sound of the guitar to get a good Voiceprint. If your PRS sounds like a hollow body electric guitar, your Voiceprints of that instrument are not going to sound like an acoustic guitar. You might be able to make some Voiceprints of other guitars to use with your PRS, but that can be a little hit-and-miss.

3rd party IR's might sound a bit more "acoustic" in this specific instance, but in my experience, they sound a little disconnected when it comes to the "feel" when playing live.

Unfortunately, it might take a bit of trial and error to find what works best for you.
