  • Voiceprint with a non Baggs pickup

    Hey there, guys!

I am really impressed with the VP and a lot of the Baggs pickups, specially the Anthem. It sounds just... perfect!

BUT, I am guessing here, from Brazil, if I should pull the trigger. I don't have the Anthem installed into my HD28. Instead, I have a K&K. I have noticed that the only K&K videos I see in the YouTube are weird sounding. I really don't know if it's because of the acoustic guitar (since the VP is trained with a mic, the actual sound of the guitar is really important), or if it's a "not so good" match for the VP.

Do you guys have any experience of using the VP with a K&K? Could you guys share it with me?

    Thank you SO much!

    Hey Rodrigo,
I've done a lot of work with the K&K and the Voiceprint DI, and they work wonderfully together. We haven't made any demos with the K&K, since it isn't our pickup, but we have a few K&K-equipped guitars here in the shop and the VPDI makes them sound great! If you like what the VPDI does to the Anthem, you'll love what it does to the K&K.

I have just pulled the trigger. It seems it will get to me in this week. I'll test it and let you guys know! I saw two videos of the K&K with the VP. In one of them, I dislike the sound, but I don't know about the unplugged sound of the acoustic guitar. In the other, it was exactly a HD28 (my guitar), but the guy made it sound thin and too bright. It didn't sounded like my HD28 at all... but it have a lot of its characteristics. I guess it will work pretty nice with my setup! I will work with the Session DI into the FX Loop of the VP. Telling the truth, I really don't know what DI to use: the VP one or the one of my Sesson DI. Hahahhahah! My next step will be a LR Baggs Align Reverb, and I'll be done with my full Baggs Pedalboard.

        That's great!

The VPDI and Session DI have the same DI circuit, so you won't lose quality by using either of them. I'm running the VPDI into some effects, with my Session DI last in the chain, and it sounds great.

Hey Caleb! Im also running the VPDI into some effects with the Session DI last in chain. If you dont mind me asking, how much saturation and comp eq do you normally use?

I'm not actually using much at all. The Voiceprint is taming stuff that I would normally use the Comp-EQ for, so I'm barely using it. I have a little saturation, but it's more for texture rather than warmth.
