  • Lr Baggs Soundscape

    Hi,

I am really interested in IR (Impulse Response) as I have been using a similar technique inside my DAW for a few years with EQ match.

However with the new LR Baggs Soundscape pedal on the horizon I was hoping that I could record my guitar’s IR with more mic options. I was hoping to use my valve mic or a ribbon mic to record the IR.

Is Soundscape limited to a smart phone mic to create the modelled IR?

    Regards

I have some more questions about the upcoming Soundscape...

    1. Will the software work with a 2018 iPhone SE that has Bluetooth v4.2.

    2. Will the software work with an iPad Pro?

    3. I am assuming that once the presets are in the Soundscape then an iPhone is not required to make the pedal work at a gig. It just doesn’t look very good looking at a smart phone half way through a live performance.

    4. Any plans for an iPhone parameter controlled Parametric EQ pedal?

    Regards

    Rodney

      Hey Rodney,
      Thanks for posting.

The Soundscape has a lot of potential that we hope to continue developing. So even after it's release, we should be adding features and improving the design for a long time to come. Right now the Voiceprint or IR creation is designed around the phone mic, but we do know that people like to impart mic-like characteristics into their sound. So that could be on the table. Even if we don't design it in, I know that some players will just use an adapter to hook up their favorite mic and tweak until forever.

As for your other questions, the app is intended to work with all iOS systems, all the way back to the iPhone 6 as of now. Dedicated iPad and Android apps are coming too.

The pedal is designed to be used by itself (no phone) for any gig. The phone just allows you to create the Voiceprints, edit presets, and manage your preset library. Once you load your setlist or desired presets into the pedal, you're good to go.

As for other app-controlled pedals, this is simply our first entry into the digital world. Once the Soundscape is launched I am sure that we will continue to build digital convenience into many products to come.

Back with another Soundscape question : )

I was looking at the Tonedexter and after reading the manual I realise that it will not work with magnetic pickups.

I am using an LR Baggs M80.

Will the Soundscape work with the M80 or is it just designed for piezo style pickups?

          Regards

          Rodney

            Hey Rodney,
We've only run limited tests so far, but everything that I've heard myself has been great. I've tried the M1 and the M80, and both were greatly improved by the Soundscape.

I've done a few more tests over the last month or so. Everything has been consistent in improving the tone of the pickup pretty drastically. Magnetic pickups are not my favorite style of pickup, but if I was going to use one, I would absolutely use it with the Voiceprint.
